Summer Fling

what is it that keeps me thinking about her after such a short time together?  the time we spent was warped and compressed.  off-kilter, like driving 3 hours to see a 2-hour movie.  spending the early morning hours of our last night of the summer lying side-by-side just outside of consciousness.  not really asleep, not really resting — like trading off watch duties.  feeling the warmth between us. the discomfort of lying next to another human being.  not wanting to move because it might change everything.  the discomfort of two people trying to occupy the same space.
